Migration and Forced Displacement in the Carpathian Basin 1944-1990 conference

Our colleagues Ágnes Tóth and Réka Marchut will give a presentation at the conference entitled "Migration and Forced Displacement in the Carpathian Basin 1944-1990" organised by the Hungarian National Archives on 14 November 2023. Ágnes Tóth's lecture will be entitled: The situation of ethnic Germans returning from expulsion in Hungary 1946-1950; Réka Marchut's lecture will be entitled: The "repatriation" plans and practices of the Moldavian Csángos during and after the Second World War. The language of the conference is Hungarian.

Roundtable discussion One hundred years in minority

A roundtable discussion titled "One hundred years in minority" was organised at the Faculty of Teacher Training of Selye János University in Komárom/Komárno. The book "A magyar kisebbségek 100 éve" [100 Years of the Hungarian Minorities] (Cluj-Napoca, 2023) was presented. Our Institute was represented by Nándor Bárdi.

Security Policy in the EU - roundtable discussion

Csilla Fedinec  will participate in the roundtable discussion "Security Policy in the EU" organised on 15 November 2023 by the Representation of the European Commission in Hungary.

The debate will cover foreign, security and defence policy issues that have a major impact on Europe's place in the world. How has Europe's security policy map been rearranged since the outbreak of the Russia-Ukraine war, what issues and urgent actions has this highlighted? What are the possible ways forward for stabilising security, and how can Member States, including Hungary, move forward? Can Europe defend itself? Is the role of the defence industry in Europe changing?
